Dispelix Oy is looking for an experienced and highly self-motivated (Senior) Research Scientist to develop diffractive waveguides for next generation see-through displays. The role is based in either Espoo or Joensuu, and we have hybrid working model in use.
The successful candidate should have a good knowledge in at least one of the following: diffractive optics, electromagnetic theory, ray tracing, computational physics, or numerical methods. You will be working on and solving challenging problems independently and in collaboration with an enthusiastic team.
What you will do:
Research new optical solutions for next-generation see-through optical waveguide displays.
Design high-performance diffractive waveguides for a variety of customers using Dispelix proprietary simulation tool
Develop in collaboration with our software team advanced modeling tools
Work in close collaboration with our manufacturing teams for realistic designs
Provide design support for in-house and external prototyping and manufacturing efforts.
Work with technicians and other engineers to integrate relevant theory for new waveguide designs, compile waveguide requirements, and coordinate design reviews.
We expect you to have:
A PhD degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a related technical discipline, or a MSc degree with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
An ability to independently solve complex problems.
Solid knowledge of optics, including physical and geometrical optics, imaging, polarization control, coherence theory, and colorimetry.
Good programming skills, for example in Matlab, Python or C/C++.
Confidence in using numerical methods.
